Blackburn United could not have hoped for a better start to the season in the Blackburn Combination league.

Despite being dumped out of the cup recently at the hands of Witton Albion (3-1) the side seem to have got it right this season in the Premier League. It's not that the squad has changed so much maybe just the attitude and teamwork.

Wins over Alexandra Hotel, Whitehall Top Con, Old Toll Bar and Oak Tree have catapulted the team to second spot. A great result against double winners Kings Inn (1-1) was the pick of the bunch though. But it's early days yet.

Bial Leli has been in inspired form so far this season grabbing seven goals and defender Yunus Mogra has chipped in with five himself.

Youngsters Azim Hafeji in midfield and Sameer at left back are quietly going about their work. The big game against Ewood Amateurs takes place on October 26th.

In the second division Blackburn United reserves are having to lift themselves after two disappointing defeats. The first agianst Centurians saw go down 4-2. And a week later in the cup a 5-1 loss to Akzo Nobel turned into a farce when the referee failed to turn up. But that was no excuse as the scoreline suggested.

Before then an opening day win against Blue Star (7-1) and a victory versus premier league side Alex Hotel were the highlights. Two other games where they led 2-0 against mediocre sides but allowed the opposition to steal a point might be food for thought for the management.

In the Pendle Sunday Charity league, Paak are carrying on where they left off last season. The side were unbeaten until October 6th when they lost a crunch game against league leaders Red Lion. Paak squandered countless clear goal scoring opportunites and should have won the game comfortably.

Until then they had secured wins against Trafalgar and Redskins. Striker Alma Ghir is continuing to pop the ball into the net regularly whilst centre-backs Nasser Rasul and Tariq Mahmood always look in control.

Nassar Iqbal has had a remarkable month so far this season. He picked up four man of the match awards and looks like he's back to his best after a couple of years of niggling injuries.

Paak B' Sabbaz Ahmed and Yasser Ahmed are excelling in the third division. It's the first season there's been two Paak sides in the league and the B side look every bit as accomplished as they counterparts. A 3-1 win against league leaders Coach House their performance of the month.

Life in the third division of the Preston Sunday League for Canaries is becoming a stroll for Canaries.

Five wins so far see them perched at the top of the table and the goals are coming thick and fast. Ali has scored 10, Fiaz 7 and Zuber Mal 5 to keep them at the head of the pack. Wins against BAE Walton, Sporting Preston, AC Muldoons, Higher Walton, Leyland and Bamber Bridge mean Canaries have made a better start than last year....well slightly better.

Suleman Hafeji looks a class act on the left and has netted six goals in league and cup. On the downside they seem to be leeking goals at the other end too. Something they didn't do so much last season.
