AS the Forever Bury elections are soon to take place, I recently received a 150-word summary from the prospective candidates. Virtually all those standing for a post of director made positive statements about how they had previously helped the club or how their experience could be of benefit.

However, one candidate, Chris Walsh, took the opportunity to state that he wasn't a member of BASE (Bury's Alternative Supporters Enterprise) and also didn't support fanzines.

As BASE has been successful in constitutionally representing its members and on occasions providing them with free travel to away games, I can only conclude that Chris Walsh does not approve of these initiatives. And as he does not support fanzines I can also only conclude that he does not endorse the promoting of Forever Bury's fund-raising activities, such as the recent highly successful "duck race". My family and, I suspect many others, only knew about this event because of the excellent advertising in the Bury Me in White magazine.

Since the administration period, there has been much positive work done by many Bury supporters seeking to build bridges and take the club forward. If this is to continue, what I see as the negativity of people such as Chris Walsh needs to be left behind.

The decision-making unit of Forever Bury is vital and those seeking to be directors should be positive, forward-thinking and looking to be inclusive, something Chris Walsh is quite evidently not.
