TWO points lost, not one gained was the opinion of Clitheroe player-manager Lee Sculpher after the Blues travelled to Glossop and left with a 0-0 draw.

On a bumpy, wet pitch the visitors dominated the NWCL Division One game for long spells but couldn't get beyond the Glossop defence.

"We didn't produce enough quality in wide positions and if we can't provide quality then the forwards get frustrated," he said.

The only efforts worth a mention were shots by the recalled Adam Gardner and Gary Jackson, but both were easily dealt with by the keeper.

As much possession as Clitheroe enjoyed, they didn't produce the quality required.

Bottom-of-the-league Glossop did seem to play above themselves, but the Clitheroe keeper Kris Richens was rarely troubled.

Lee Cryer could have snatched the winner for the Blues late on, but he mistimed his volley at the back post. "We have to come to places like Glossop and take all three points if we are to be serious title contenders," added Sculpher.

The point keeps Clitheroe in fifth place, 11 points behind leaders Prescot Cables, but the Blues do have two games in hand.
