HUDDERSFIELD captain Steve McNamara, who led the Giants back to Super League at the first attempt after beating Leigh Centurions at the weekend, is being urged to hang up his boots and concentrate on coaching.

The former Bradford Bulls forward added a Northern Ford Premiership medal to his 1997 Super League prize when he inspired his side to an emphatic 38-16 victory in Saturday's Grand Final, but it may have been his last match for the club.

Huddersfield coach Tony Smith believes his right-hand man has t ability to become one of the top British coaches in the game. "I've been trying to get him to retire and get into coaching because I think he's going to be an absolutely outstanding coach," said Smith.
