THE Harvest Breakfast organised by Cliviger Guides raised just under £130 for the funds of St John's Church, despite a disappointing response from churchgoers on the day.

THIS year's confirmation service for the parishes of St John's, Cliviger and St. John's, Worsthorne will be held at Worsthorne on Sunday, October 20, at 6.15pm. The Bishop of Burnley the Right Rev John Goddard will officiate.

GOOD homes are being sought for four cats, two male and two female. The cats are fully inoculated and neutered, details from 01282 432069.

THE Church, Home and School Association are holding a Candle Party in Church House tomorrow, further information can be obtained from Cliviger School on 01282 421395.

CLIVIGER Parish Council were told recently that the situation with car parking at the junction of Mount Lane and Red Lees Road is becoming very dangerous. There does not appear to be any easy solution to the problem, but the council will monitor the situation and consider any suggestions.

A NEW sign to point out access to the graveyard at Mereclough is to be requested from Burnley Borough Council. The previous sign has been missing for some time. A resident has kindly offered to allow the sign to be placed on his land.

THE postbox outside Walk Mill Post Office is believed to be an historic one which is almost one hundred years old. Although the box has only been in its current position for a year or so, the inscription shows that it dates from the reign of Edward VII , who was King from 1901 to 1910.

THE Monday Club meets at the Village Hall, Holme Chapel in the afternoon on the second Monday of each month. Ladies are welcome to join the club, which arranges talks and demonstrations etc.

A COFFEE Morning will be held at the Village Hall on Saturday October 26, from 10am to noon. Admission is 50p, there will be a cake stall and children' s bran tub and proceeds wil go towards the running of the village hall.
