A MAN died after he sustained serious internal injuries following a heavy fall, an inquest heard.

Khalil Rehman, 49, was trying to move some trellising at the house in Barkerhouse Road when he slipped and crashed to the ground.

An inquest in Burnley heard that Mr Rehman had gone to the house on June 28 to carry out some refurbishments.

An eye witness, shopkeeper Mrs Margery Powell, said she had seen Mr Rehman go past her shop and into the house when about ten minutes later she heard a loud crash.

The inquest heard Mr Rehman had tried to climb up to fix a trellis surrounding the front door and had slipped and knocked himself unconscious.

A post mortem examination showed he had sustained injuries to both one of his kidneys and his liver which caused his death two days after the fall.

Acting East Lancashire Coroner Richard Taylor recorded a verdict of accidental death. He said: "It appears that Mr Rehman had been doing straightforward domestic work and for whatever reason overbalanced and fell and the injuries were caused."
