A SCHOOLGIRL aged nine suffered a fractured skull after an accident with a car.
The young girl was involved in an accident with a Ford Escort -- driven by a 19-year-old man from Hindley -- as she crossed Moss Lane in Platt Bridge at 5.30pm on Friday.
The girl, from Leigh, was taken to the Wigan Royal Infirmary with a fractured skull but has since been transferred to the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, Pendlebury. Doctors earlier today were still assessing the full extent of her injuries.
Witnesses are asked to contact the Wigan Police Traffic Unit on 0161 856 7072.
