AT THE family service on Sunday at St John's, Cliviger Guides handed £207 which had been made from the sale of 'holly knockers' made by the guides and leaders.

This represented two hard evenings' work, and the Guides would like to thank all those who contributed materials for the 'holly knockers' and enabled them to raise this money for church funds.

THE December meeting of Cliviger Parish Council will be held on Friday at the Village Hall, Holme, starting at 7pm. Before the normal business, a presentation will be given by Susan Graham, Burnley Council head of planning services, on the subjects of the Burnley development plan and tree preservation orders.

AT their November meeting,the parish council was addressed by Mr S Heys, from Burnley Council.

He spoke about parish boundaries and the future funding for parishes within the borough, and also explained precepting.

The council decided that, before a decision was made on the issue of precepting there should be open debate and villagers will be invited to give their views.

MOUNT Zion Church has approached Lancashire County Council with a proposal to develop land in Burnley Road, used by the council as a storage yard, for a new church. The parish council is supporting the proposals .

A FUND-RAISING coffee morning, at the home of Mr and Mrs L Pickles on Saturday raised £240 for the St John's Church restoration fund.
