IT has been stated by the Environment Minister Michael Meacher that householders will face a tax on their rubbish, possibly amounting to £1 a sack.
Mr Meacher also said that although householders were already paying for this service through the council tax, the problem is, we're all paying the same amount and that it may cost ten times more to dispose of one family's rubbish than another's.
The rationale for the proposal which Mr Meacher said the government was certainly looking at, is that people should pay in some way related to the waste they generate.
This from a party who when in opposition 'rubbished' the poll tax. Surely, these two taxes are based exactly the same as each other.
