Sedgley Park...29pts Kendal...0 - ON a wet, windy day, really atrocious conditions at Park Lane saw Sedgley produce some sparkling rugby to easily beat league strugglers Kendal.

Four tries without reply tells its own story and the points difference could be important come the end of the season.

Kendal never ceased in their attempts at open rugby, but the Sedgley defence was impregnable whilst Park had better scrummaging, line-outs and, most of all, ball retention.

Arno De Jager started the rout with a penalty in the 11th minute and with all Kendal's attacks being snuffed out, Sedgley's confidence visibly improved.

From a line-out taken by Stockdale, then two driving mauls by the forwards, De Jager put up a high kick into the Kendal half. Rob Moon chased and caught the ball, passed to Jim Naylor who drew the defenders and off-loaded to Ross Bullough for try number one which De Jager converted.

Sedgley were then clearly dominant with Fourie immense in attack and with Arnold, Senior and Yates in constant support it wasn't long before Fourie scored, driven over from a line-out catch and dive. Again De Jager converted to make it 17-0 at half-time.

At the start of the second half it was the backs who ran the show, with McCormack and De Jager directing play and not forgetting Moon, who scored 15 minutes into the half after quick interpassing across the back line left Moon with two defenders to beat, which he did with ease. De Jager added the conversion.

It was all Sedgley as Kendal wilted. Roberts replaced Keyes at hooker and his impact was immediate, driving the visiting scrum back as if on a ski slope and from this platform try number four came about.

Hassan kicked upfield, the ball was chased and retrieved by Morris who passed it on to Naylor. It was then moved across field to the right wing where coach, captain and No 8 forward Tim Fourie was lurking and he scored to take it 29-0.

This Saturday's game at Harrogate will be much more difficult, but on this form Sedgley travel with great expectations.
