THE future of a piece of land at the junction of Chapel Street and Arthur Street, Nelson, could be decided at the next Nelson Committee on January 6.
Bradley Ward councillors Mohammad Sakib and Mohammed Iqbal have asked for the land, which was created when a house was demolished under a compulsory purchase order, to be kept in council ownership to create a public garden and seating area.
Other options for the site are to tidy the existing site surface and include it in a grounds maintenance schedule, to pave it or to re-market the area for sale.
If it was decided to keep the land, appropriate funding would need to be identified for future maintenance.
