THREE women and a child were treated for smoke inhalation following a blaze at their Prestwich home on Christmas Day.

The fire is believed to have started in the bedroom of the first floor flat after too many electrical appliances were left plugged to one socket.

The fire spread to a pile of clothing, but the women smelt the smoke and were able to escape with the youngster before the fire crew arrived.

The flat's smoke alarm had not been fitted with batteries.
