POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an 84-year-old local woman died following a collision with a blue Ford Escort.
The pedestrian was crossing Wigan Road in Leigh, near its junction with Norbury Street, at 6.20pm on Sunday when the N-reg Ford Escort, driven by a 42-year-old local man, collided with her.
The pensioner suffered serious injuries and was rushed to the Royal Bolton Hospital, where she later died.
