THE ever increasing rise in the number of cars has changed another means of transport for ever -- the pram.

There's no place on today's busy streets for the magnificent coach built baby carriers of not long ago. Neither are they necessary when most littlies travel strapped into purpose-built car seats and then are carried to their destination in what can only be described as a plastic trug.

That's why I was totally surprised when I saw a mum pushing a lovely, shining black vintage Silver Cross along Atherton Road, Hindley Green. Had it been her own I wonder?

A blast from the past that was a lovely sight to see.
