J MONKHOUSE (Letters, December 12) asks whether an anti-hunt group supports Labour because they criticised the Countryside Alliance twice. Without knowing the answer, he then launches into a long and amusing diatribe against Labour.

Of course, there could be a simpler reason why an anti-hunt group would criticise the CA, such as it being the main apologists of hare hunting, hare coursing, fox hunting an deer hunting. Changing the British Fields Sports Society name to the CA hasn't fooled anyone.

Mr Monkhouse also says that 'beating up old people' and 'abuse of children' should be banned.

Perhaps he has been too busy breaking up foxes to notice that both have been banned for a very long time.

But in light of his sincere concern for these groups I'm sure he will give up fox-hunting so that the £1million it costs to police fox-hunting each year can be better spent protecting people.
