KIND-HEARTED Bury folk dug deep when it came to providing a Christmas treat for the elderly.
An annual door-to-door collection by Bury Round Table provided enough items to fill 100 Christmas hampers for pensioners.
Goods were collected from houses in Mile Lane, Elton, Rudgewick Drive in Brandlesholme and in Whittingham Drive, Ramsbottom.
The gifts were then distributed to addresses throughout the town identified by the Women's Royal Voluntary Service.
Chairman Glyn Beckwith said: "We would like to thank everyone for their generous donations which will make a difference where they are really needed at Christmas time.
"We did extremely well this year."
