A THIEF struck when a motorist left her vehicle to chase her dog down the street.
A handbag was taken from the vehicle when the woman chased the animal along Pendlehurst Street, Burnley, on Monday morning.
The woman is believed to have been loading three dogs into her car around 9.10am.
Her handbag was left on the rear shelf of the car while she chased one of the pets.
The offender smashed a window and grabbed the bag.
He is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall, with a shaven head and unshaven face.
He was wearing grey coloured trousers and an orange, workman's type coat.
