A SAUCY Christmas charity calendar posed by women working at Burnley's Veka factory has already knocked the socks off male rivals who also produced their own calendar last year.

The cheeky Veka girls have sold around 400 of the raunchy calendars -- more than doubling the amount the lads sold last year.

The challenge came after a group of 19 from the Farringdon Road site were photographed in saucy outfits, including basques and bike leathers.

They were responding to men at the factory, which makes uPVC windows and doors, who raised hundreds of pounds with a similar stunt last year.

They girls underwent a professional make-over and photoshoot to make them the ultimate office pin-ups.

And the gang have now received the rest of the 2000 calendars which are on sale to the public -- and selling fast.

Personal assistant Vicky Naughton, 29, from Colne, is among those who posed in her slinky black dress.

She said: "We have had a lot of response which has been fantastic.

"We haven't got a running total yet but we estimate we have already sold around 400 and that's before the reps have got to work on their clients.

"We have got 2000 calendars which may be a little optimistic but we aim to sell as many as we can.

"Perhaps we will be able to sell them in Woolworths next to Kylie. Then again maybe that's not such a good idea.

"The fellas are a bit miffed because they didn't have the luxury of professional photographers, so I'm sure they will be back next year with something bigger and better."

The calendar, which was subsidised and shot by Central Photographs and produced by Image Works in Nelson, is now on sale for £5 plus postage.
