A 24-YEAR-OLD man was fighting for his life in hospital after a car ploughed into a lampost.
The man was a passenger in a black Ford Fiesta XR2 which crashed in Woodhill Road, Bury, near to the junction of Crostons Road at about 2.10am on Christmas Day.
A police spokesman said the Fiesta turned into Woodhill Road, mounted the kerb and hit the lampost. The 25-year-old driver suffered cuts to his face. The passenger, who has not been named, suffered serious head injuries and was in the intensive care unit at Fairfield Hospital today. His condition was described as serious but stable. Police closed Woodhill Road for two hours as accident invesitgators examined the scene. Traffic police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call 0161 856 8073.
