SPORTS-MAD youngsters in Hyndburn will be able to train to become sports coaches thanks to a new programme of courses.
The Step Into Coaching programme starts on January 22, with an Introduction to Cricket Umpiring, the first of nine different courses.
The courses are open to secondary school pupils aged from 14 to 16, and are designed to give them a taste of coaching.
They also aim to increase volunteer opportunities and give youngsters the chance to obtain further coaching qualifications.
The programme has the backing of all the borough's secondary schools and the council has taken on two new outreach sports workers to visit schools and enlist pupils.
Courses will be held at Moorhead High School, Accrington, and Hyndburn Sports Centre and will cost entrants £2 to £4.
