MARTIAL arts expert Mark Strange is back home for the New Year after working in Hong Kong with international film star Jackie Chan.

Mark has spent two months working as an action performer and film producer, and made such an impression he will be returning in the New Year.

"The experience has been amazing," said Mark. "Working with Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen and other leading figures in Hong Kong's action cinema has been a real education." Mark was originally working on Twins Effect in the Far East, but also ended up doing re-shoot work on $40m blockbuster Highbinders.

Both films will be released next year, and Mark will be fitting the premiere of Twin Effect into his busy schedule, which also includes work in Los Angeles and a return to the Cannes Film Festival.

"The action work was tough, working mostly nights for up to 14 hours," said Mark. "The actors and crew were wonderful people though and I was sad to leave."

While in Hong Kong, Mark, of Leyland, was also promoting his own sci-fi action film, Displaced, which is being made by North West production company Skylandian Pictures. The first 35 minutes have been completed, and Mark is looking for funding to complete the project.

"We've had an amazing response," he said. "I have had several top-level meetings with film industry bosses and investors who are looking into providing funding for our film."

Now Mark is back in Leyland his diary is quickly being filled for private lessons at his martial arts school, although he is also finding time with colleagues to establish the Skylandian Film production office in the town.
