THE site of a demolished home in Nelson could be transformed into a public garden with a seating area.
Two Pendle councillors in the Bradley Ward are of the town are asking the plans to be given serious thought.
Councillors Mohammed Sakib and Mohammed Iqbal both want the land at the junction of Chapel Street and Arthur Street to remain in council hands to create the garden. In February 2000 a planning application for the construction of a new home on the site was refused and two further bids for the plot have fallen through.
Any proposals will be subject to normal planning permission and the cost of creating and maintaining such a garden will also be taken into consideration.
The issue will be discussed at the next meeting of the Nelson committee on Monday, January 6, 2003. The meeting will be held at Nelson Town Hall at 7pm.
