The fact that Burnley's players and fans had to make the long trip to Brighton
at the weekend was not ideal - except for skipper Paul Weller.
Not only did he get to go back to his home town, he managed to make it a
family affair with his nephews joining him on the pre-match pictures as the
Clarets mascot.
Thomas Miles, 11, and his nine-year-old brother Charlie may be local lads
but they wore their Burnley shirts with pride on Saturday, one in uncles
number 18 shirt, the other in the seven of Glen Little.
It was a special day for the whole family but there was no disguising the
disappointment of the Weller family group as they prepared to wave to the
coach as it headed up north.
The skippers face said it all as he acknowledged that two points had been
lost in the push for the play-offs but, despite the result, it was still a
day that his nephews will always remember.
