AN arts workshop which aims to train leaders in a unique course for disabled and deaf people is now recruiting for its sixth course.
It is run by a partnership between North West Disability Arts Forum and the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and higher education accredited by John Moores University.
The course trains disabled and deaf arts practitioners in any art form, including drama, visual arts, music, stand up comedy, dance, writing and crafts in skills needed to become an arts workshop leader.
It will run from January to April 2003, part-time at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts followed by a placement with a community organisation.
In addition to workshop skills, there is training in Disability and Deaf issues and culture from a disability and deaf perspective.
Training is free, delivered through performing arts method and necessary access needs such as notetakers, interpreters and personal assistants.
