THREE women and a five-year-old boy needed hospital treatment after a Christmas Day blaze.
Firefighters from Broughton and Whitefield were called out at 10am to a first-floor flat in Bury Old Road in Prestwich.
An electrical fault in a bedroom is being blamed for the fire which was tackled by the three female occupants.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the flat but the women and the young boy had escaped.
They were given oxygen at the scene and then taken to North Manchester General Hospital for further treatment for smoke inhalation.
The fire damaged the bedroom carpet and electrical wiring.
