THE owners of a children's Wendy house in Coates Lane, Barnoldswick, may be forced to remove it.

Pendle Council planning officers say it is an unsafe location and should be re-sited further away from the highway.

In October 2002, the planning enforcement officer received a complaint about the structure at number 29 Coates Lane.

The officer found the wooden play house had been built in the side garden.

It breached several regulations as it was nearer to the highway than the original building and less than 20 metres from the road.

The owner was told of the breach of planning legislation and he said he had built it the previous afternoon.

He was told that he would either have to make retrospective planning permission costing £110 if he wanted it to stay where it was, re-site the buildingin the back garden without the need for planning permission or remove it completely.

The owner decided to move the building to the back of the house and was given until November 14 to re-site it.

When officer visited the house again on December 5 the play house was still in the same position and no application for planning permission had been received.

The executive have been recommended to authorise the council's secretary and solicitor to take all action necessary to make sure it is removed or re-positioned.
