TWO East Lancashire vicars will swap the church aisle for the supermarket aisle as part of a new in-store chaplain scheme.
An advert for the job at Blackburn's Asda in Grimshaw Park was so successful they have decided on a job share.
And now the Rev Andrew Raynes, 42, from Christ Church, in Mosley Street, and the Rev Philip Gough, 34, a representative of the Blackburn Methodist Circuit, will be taking on the voluntary store-based role.
An Asda spokesman said: "We are also open to representatives of other faiths who may like to join the team."
The service will include "walk and talk" for customers and colleagues who wish to discuss anything.
And the store's interview room is available to anyone who wishes to take advantage of the chaplain's advice on a more personal matter.
Rev Raynes said: "I'm excited by Asda's initiative and am looking forward to making new friends and being available to speak to."
Rev Gough added: "It's a great, exciting opportunity to meet people and a first for Blackburn."
