HELP is at hand for smokers desperately trying to stick to their New Year's resolution to kick the habit.

A service dedicated to boosting people's willpower has started new sessions in the Blackburn, Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley.

QUEST, also known as the Specialist Smoking Cessation Service, offers expert advice and group therapy sessions or one-to-one meetings and can be contacted through a GP or practice nurse or by calling 01254 294727.

The service will be in Blackburn Shopping Centre outside Next all day on Wednesday and will also have an information stand in Asda Accrington on Tuesday, January 21.

Open access groups are held at the following venues: Darwen Health Centre on Thursdays, 6.30pm to 7.30pm; Accrington New Era Centre on Wednesdays, 6.30pm to 7.30pm; Clitheroe Pendleton Brook Centre, Wednesdays, noon to 1pm.

Quit and Get Fit sessions for people who want to take up exercise too are held at Darwen Leisure Centre every Tuesday, 10am to 11am, and at Audley Community Centre in Blackburn on Tuesdays, 6pm to 7pm.
