ITALIAN mis-fit Ciccio Grabbi could be heading for the Ewood exit door after being targeted by a number of clubs on the continent.

Interest in the 26-year-old striker is said to be hotting up with two Italian teams and a club from Greece thought to be on his trail.

Agents working on behalf of the player are thought to have been in contact with officials from Brescia and Piacenza.

And out-of-favour fullback John Curtis could also be joining Grabbi on the way out after a number of English clubs have been in touch with Rovers about the former Manchester United star.

But, as yet, Rovers have not received any enquiries for David Dunn after manager Graeme Souness indicated he would be ready to listen to offers for the England star.

And the club have also rubbished stories in the national Press linking Damien Duff with a multi-million pound switch to Italian giants Inter Milan.

Souness would be keen to strike deals for both Grabbi and Curtis, who have barely figured in his first team plans this season, because he is desperate to generate some transfer funds by getting some of his fringe players off the books.

"We've been told by Ciccio's agent that there is some interest but there hasn't been any direct contact with us as yet," said Rovers' chief executive John Williams.

"Two Italian clubs are thought to be involved and a club from Greece as well."

It remains to be seen whether any of the clubs who have expressed an interest in Grabbi now follow it up with a firm offer.

But Rovers are now resigned to the fact that they must cut their losses on the player, who cost £6.75 million from Ternana 18 months ago, and an offer of £2 million could be enough to prise him away.

As for Curtis, Portsmouth and Ipswich are both thought to have contacted Rovers about the player since the transfer window opened and Rovers would be prepared to do business if an acceptable offer came in.

Meanwhile, Rovers extended their unbeaten run to eight games after drawing 0-0 with Sunderland on Saturday but Souness felt it was two points dropped rather than one gained.

"We think we've dropped two points. We had some very good chances which fell to the right people and on a normal day Andy and Dwight would have put at least one of them away," said Souness.

"But that can happen in football and I can't complain about those two because because they've been excellent for us in the last couple of months.

"The pitch was difficult because it was a bit of a glue-pot but we still got it down and passed it at times and caused them problems.

"But the longer the game went on without us not getting something you start to think sooner or later Sunderland will get a chance and I was hoping they wouldn't take it.

"We enjoyed a wee bit of luck when they hit the post and then with the goalmouth scramble but we felt we did enough to win the game overall."

To add to Souness's frustrations, Lucas Neill also limped out of the game after twisting his knee in a challenge and the Rovers boss was anxiously waiting for further news on the full-back this morning.

"We are a wee bit worried about him because he got a kick and twisted his knee so we'll see how that is today," added Souness.

Rovers reserves are in action against Bolton Wanderers tonight at Bury's Gigg Lane (kick-off 7pm).
