TWO Blackburn schools are celebrating after winning education awards worth £5,000 from BT.

The money for Crosshill School and Lammack Community School came from the BT Schools Awards, which give away £100,000 every term to schools that use ICT (Information Communication Technology) to promote learning.

Richard Hamer, programme co-ordinator, said: "The online awards programme opens up opportunities for UK schools to share their teaching skills and broaden the scope of current school projects."

Crosshill School's project is entitled 'Creating Inclusion for Young People with Special Educational Needs'. The school will develop a new e-learning centre and specialist technology community college with enhanced opportunities for young people and the wider community.

Lammack Community School's project, entitled 'Year 6 Pupils Interactive CD-ROM', would involve pupils drawing together a collection of memories of their experiences at the school. Presented in web page format, it is hoped the pupils will become involved in the planning of new features, including audio visual multimedia and constructing their own home pages.
