THE Friends of Barrowford Park group is the latest friends group to be formed in Pendle, with more anticipated along the way.

Members of the public will work with the council to help improve the parks and contribute valuable ideas for the future of all 11 public parks in the borough.

Regular meetings will be held to discuss a variety of issues including projects that are of particular interest to the group.

The Friends of Barrowford Park will meet on Wednesday, January 22, at 7pm, in Bullholme Pavilion.

Members will approve a constitution, elect officers for the posts of chairman, vice chairman, secretary and treasurer, meet their local park ranger and talk about the future of the park.

Fred Stewart, the council's parks outreach officer, said: "The meetings help to develop valuable ideas for the future and provide ways to improve the parks."

Friends groups have also participated in fun days and clean up days to take care of the area's environment.
