REGARDING police in the Pennine Division sending out letters to criminals (LET, January 10), when the Lord Chief Justice advocates that burglars shouldn't be sent to prison (but God help the victim if he should so much as breathe on the burglar he catches in his house).
I'm sure the criminals are quaking in their boots about receiving a letter from the local police.
No doubt, the police mean well in their efforts to nick the local villains, but are too often let down by the justice system and limp-wristed judges from Planet Ne'r-do-well.
