SHOPPERS in Nelson were encouraged to have their say on proposals to redevelop Scotland Road during two days of consultation this week.

Consultants Chesterton, appointed by Pendle Council, were on hand to listen to local people's views on their various proposals for the future use of the vacant shops.

They could involve demolishing and rebuilding, retaining the same or all of the frontage and rebuilding behind it or refurbishing the empty shop units.

All the plans are subject to Pendle Council securing funding from the North West Regional Development Agency and form part of a wider assessment of the town centre including the former Grand Cinema site and Pendle Rise Shopping Centre.
