A MAN has appeared in court accused of causing the death of young businessman Keiron Edwards by dangerous driving.

Surgeons battled for nearly six hours to try to save the 21-year-old after he was rescued from the wreckage of a silver Mazda Xedos car in Stopes Road, Radcliffe.

Yesterday, the injured driver David Plummer, aged 20, appeared before Bury Magistrates accused of causing death by dangerous driving and other motoring offences.

Mr Edwards, who lived with his parents in High Meadow, Radcliffe, died during the early hours of Tuesday after suffering severe injuries in the crash just after 11pm on Monday.

The car was being driven on Stopes Road towards Radcliffe town centre when it crossed into the opposite carriageway just before its junction with Bolton Road and collided with a stationary Vauxhall Cavalier and a Ford Transit van.

Plummer, of Kenmore Road, Whitefield faces charges of causing death by dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, having no insurance and handling a stolen vehicle. Plummer was remanded in custody until January 21 when the matter will be heard at Bolton Crown Court.
