AN entertainments extravaganza is back on the agenda for Baxenden residents after an absence of two years.

The traditional Bash Spring Fair was revived three years ago for the Millennium after dying out at the turn of the last century. But the annual day of merry making did not take place last year because of the Queen's Golden Jubilee.

This year the event is being organised in conjunction with the Baxenden Community Forum the Special Children's Interactive Playscheme.

Sheila McVan, fundraising co-ordinator for the community forum, said: "We are still looking for funding, that's going to be the major thing. We have quite a lot of people who join in on the day to help so we are hoping those people are going to come back and support us again. There's quite a community spirit in Baxenden."

Attractions planned for the event, on Sunday, May 4, on the recreation ground on Hollins Lane, Accrington, will include children's entertainment and live music.
