YOUNG rugby players from Lancaster Royal Grammar School could be just two games from Twickenham after their next English Schools Cup game next week.

They play St Bees, of Cumbria, with the prize for the winners a home game in the quarter-finals.

And some of the team,s players are already attracting the attention of Sale Sharks, the leading north-west professional team.

A large crowd is expected for the game at the Grammar School's memorial field, Derwent Road, next Friday at 2pm.

In the last round Lancaster beat Dame Allan,s School, Newcastle, while St. Bees accounted for Hymer,s College from Hull.

Both teams have had a lengthy period of inactivity following the Christmas break and the recent freeze which saw all school games in the area cancelled, but Lancaster take on a strong Manchester Grammar School side at the weekend.

Meanwhile, four Lancaster players have trained with the Sale Jets, junior team over the Christmas period and captain, Sean Cox, is due to make an appearance in Sale,s academy side this weekend.
