EXPATS from across the Atlantic, who now live just miles from some of Hollywood's biggest stars, are calling on people to get in touch via their new website.

Since emigrating to America in 1964, Doris and Dave Hughlock, from Walton-le-Dale, have travelled to practically every state in the USA.

The Preston-born couple, former pupils of the then Fishwick Secondary Modern school, witnessed rioting on the streets against war in Vietnam shortly after arriving and have been everywhere in America from east to west.

They first visited Salt Lake City, Utah, before driving south to the desert states of Arizona and Nevada, and the gambling capital of Las Vegas.

But the couple, who have two sons, have made the sunshine state of California their home and now live in Pomona Valley, 30 miles east of Los Angeles.

Now retired, the couple enjoy spending time with their three grandchildren, and play golf in their spare time.

But their website at www.webspawner.com/users/thehughlocks/ gives a detailed history of their life in the States and the couple, who married at St Matthew's Church, New Hall Lane, want people to read all about it!

David said: "We would love people to visit our website and leave a message in our guestbook."

Before going to America David served an apprenticeship at printing press builders, Goss Graphics, before taking a job with British Aircraft Corporation in the research and development department at Warton Aerodrome. Doris, whose sister and brother live in Leyland, worked for clothes manufacturers Stephen Simpson's, which was located on both sides of Avenham Road.

In America David worked as a machinist in the aerospace industry and in quality control for 15 years.

His wife enjoyed a career in the newspaper industry starting in customer services before being promoted to the corporate office where she was responsible for hiring and firing staff!

"Not bad for a Lancashire lass with no college degree, but plenty of common sense," said David.
