PEOPLE living in Ramsbottom are being urged to take to the streets and help their town become a better place to be.

The council is now recruiting Community Safety Wardens in town centres across the borough.

Manager Ged McGee said: "Our wardens act as the eyes and ears of the council and other agencies.

"Their role, amongst other things, is to deter anti-social behaviour, report suspicious incidents to the appropriate departments or agencies, and serve as the area's ambassadors, not just to visitors, but to local people too."

Successful candidates need to be mature, good communicators and able to adopt a common-sense approach to problem solving.

Full training will be given leading to recognised qualifications and certification.

The closing date for applications is Friday, January 24.
