A NETBALL league set up to give teams the opportunity to play indoors has been so successful it now has a waiting list!

The Blackburn Rovers Indoor Centre already had 27 teams in three leagues of nine and the inaugural Thursday night league saw plenty of high class action.

Darwen Netball Club, who have enjoyed plenty of success in recent years, achieved the biggest win of the night, beating Chelsea 50-15 to go to the top of League One.

Heys Inn are second thanks to a 33-20 win against Phoenix while Hyndburn One are third after beating West Pennine 26-15. St Aidans 'A' were the other opening day winners with 22-12 win against Ribble Valley.

In League Two, St Peters are top thanks to a 33-13 win against Tex 2000. Pizza Hot beat Burnley Clarets 27-17 while Barclays beat the Duke of Wellington 26-15.

Rishton Pioneers are fourth after beating HyndburnTwo 22-21 who themselves picked up a bonus point.

Nabs Head are the early leaders in the League Three thanks to a 30-6 win agaisnt Woltstenholme.

Crazy Crackers were the league's joint leader scorers on the day, beating Lanes 34-15 while Hyndburn Three beat UK One 34-23 who registered a bonus point for topping 20 points.

J and S Contruction also made it a winning start, beating Marshalls 21-5.

League organiser Rick Wakefield said: "I can't believe how well the league has been accepted. We only started it up as a tester but it has really taken off.

"So much so that we already have a waiting list. The response has been superb and I have already had a number of phone calls saying how much the teams enjoyed it."
