WHAT is wrong with Blackburn councillor Alan Cottam's idea of renting rooms to tourists (LET, January 4)? It is the perfect solution to help people stay in the area and at rates that will be affordable, too!
Not everyone wants or needs the facilities of a larger hotel. In time, the area will have its own hotel for those who require all the services but, for now, let's build on this wonderful idea of renting rooms.
To suggest that this only encourages the clog and cap image, in my opinion, is silly and untrue. The towns of Blackburn and Darwen are better known nationally for a wider cultural identity and so bringing visitors into the area can only improve what is already known.
