PARENTS at Burnley's DIY school face an inspection by Local Education Authority officers today.

Members of Lancashire County Council's LEA will visit the school at the Valley Street Community Centre to ensure that children are getting a decent level of education.

The school was set up in September last year with 12 pupils after parents failed to secure places for their children at the schools of their choice.

If inspectors find the school to be failing the parents could face prosecution and closure. Four children remain at the school after others were given school places through the appeals process.

However, the parents are vowing to continue their fight to get the schools places row settled.

A spokesman for the school said: "We are going to carry on whatever happens. We owe it to the children who are still here.

"The fact that some of the children have been given places at school does not mean we are going to give up."
