LIKE Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure but for Bolton boozers, Bents & Bongs Beer Bash is always a popular event with those fond of a top-notch tipple.

Once again Formby Hall in Atherton is the lucky host venue of this series of majestic drinking sessions, the first of which takes place on Thursday, January 30.

Subsequent stints will be on Friday, January 31 from 6pm to 11pm, Sat February 1 from 12pm to 4pm and again on Saturday from 7pm until 11pm (hardened drinkers might even attempt both on Saturday, or in fact, all four!) with entrance fees ranging from £3.50 to £4.50.

This annual beer-fest offers live entertainment plus, of course, the chance for drinkers to flex their arms with a selection of more than 60 real ales and ciders, with bottled and draught imported beers also playing their part. More info about the beers available can be found on the website www.bentnbongs.com.

This year the theme (apart from getting drunk, presumably) is Aviation, with brews such as Lancaster Bomber, Spitfire, Rocket, Aviator and Kamikaze making an appearance plus specially brewed ale named Dumbo's Disney Delight. We can see why. Get enough down you and you might well see an elephant fly.
