LAST Sunday's run was well attended and started with the group heading towards Ainsworth village.

We proceeded through Harwood and Eagley before passing both Bolton and Delph sailing clubs, before reaching the highest point of the day as we went over Belmont.

While the climbs kept everyone warm, the descents froze us to the marrow. As we cycled on, we passed the historic Cavendish Arms in the hamlet of Brindle, then onto Leyland and Bretherton before arriving at our lunchtime destination, the Twin Lakes trout fishery on the outskirts of the quaint village of Croston.

After lunch, we left Croston at a sedentary pace down Grape Lane, and headed for Coppull. Here, we allowed ourselves a diversion from the usual route, to have a look at one of the area's largest cycle dealers.

With our credit ratings still intact, we moved off towards the tea rooms at Rivington, but that wasn't our best idea of the day. The whole area was solid with cars and droves of people, so much so that to get a pot of tea and a seat was an achievement of some merit. The last few miles took us through Horwich, then Bolton, and home.

The B section headed in a similar direction with Higher Walton as their destination.

Next week's rides are: A section to Wycoller, meet Bury 9.30am. B section to Mankinholes, meet Bury 9.30am.
