I WONDER if P. Kaiserman (Yes, we fought to end fascism, Your Letters, Dec 27) is aware of the "holocaust" that befell the German people in the aftermath of World War Two?
Reprisals against German military personnel, civilians and ethnic Germans resulted in 3.6 million killed, forced to leave areas where they had lived for centuries, particularly Poland and Czechoslovakia. German girls as young as eight were reportedly raped and tortured by Russian soldiers.
Being mindful of the factual history of the 20th century, I hope the event at the Elizabethan Suite on January 23 marking Holocaust Memorial Day (Jan 27) will communicate that no one race, culture, religion or political doctrine has a monopoly on holocausts.
