IT was an "Express" delivery this week for Bury Hospice when two nurses were presented with a cheque for £500.
The cash came courtesy of a supermarket giant to mark Monday's (Jan 13) opening of the Tesco Express store in Bolton Road, Bury.
Apart from collecting the cheque, Hospice nurses Isabel Babbit and Barbara Frost also took part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Manager Lee Humphries presented the £500 on behalf of the Tesco Charity Trust.
Barbara said: "We were delighted to perform the opening ceremony and we are very grateful for the donation. Without the support of the local community and the local business sector, Bury Hospice would cease to exist."
Lee commented: "We are so pleased we could help such a worthwhile cause."
The Tesco Express is a small neighbourhood foodstore with an Esso petrol forecourt. The shop, which has a bakery, offers a range of foods, newspapers and magazines, flowers and health and beauty products.
