A BURY woman's English springer spaniels are well and truly groomed for stardom.

They were on their best behaviour when a TV crew called at the Brookfield Road home of Mrs Barbara Lynch-Cowdrey.

The animals will be the stars of a Granada Reports feature on the work of North West English Springer Spaniel Rescue, of which Mrs Lynch-Cowdrey is a trustee.

She said: "We have around 300 members and have been a charity since 1999. We rescue abused, ill-treated English springer spaniel puppies."

Another major role of the organisation is to find foster and permanent homes for the dogs. Mrs Lynch-Cowdrey added: "I've got four springers, all of whom were rescued. They are with me permanently. If they suffered such a level of abuse which means they can't go out to new homes, then we tend to keep them ourselves."

She hopes the TV slot will raise the awareness of the work of the North West English Springer Spaniel Rescue, increase membership and lead to more foster homes being found.
