ROVERS striker Matt Jansen is on the look out for a new room-mate unless Nissa Johansson can change some of his nocturnal habits.

Jansen used to share with John Curtis on away trips but, now that the full-back rarely features in the first team, he's hooked up with Johansson instead.

However, to say they've had a few teething problems with the new arrangement is putting it mildly.

Jansen never used to have any trouble sleeping when Curtis was around because the former Manchester United star's obsession with Ceefax positively bored him to tears.

But it's a totally different scenario with Johansson now, who kept him up all night ahead of last week's game against Sunderland -- because of his snoring!!! "He snores his head off and he shouts in his sleep as well," said Jansen.

"We had these two single beds which were fairly close together so I hardly got any sleep on the night before the Sunderland game.

"I didn't want to wake him up because he was starting the next day but it's a bit of a nightmare and I'm seriously thinking about changing my room-mate now."

The Fire brigade

CHICAGO Fire goalkeeper Zach Thornton is training with Blackburn Rovers ahead of the new Major League Soccer season.

Thornton has returned for off-season training with Rovers after making a successful trip to Brockhall last season.

The 29-year-old United States international was invited over by fellow American and Rovers number one Brad Friedel, who also looked after former Chicago striker Josh Woolf when he trained with the Lancashire club last year.

It's not unusual for stars of the American game to spend time in England training ahead of the new MLS season.
