A controversial penalty denied Burnley a first away win in three months at Selhurst Park.
Aussie defender Tony Popovic found the net after Marlon Beresford was adjudged to have tapped Dele Adebola's ankle as he ran towards the box. It was a borderline decision but went the home side's way.
Former Palace striker Gareth Taylor had given the Clarets an undeserved lead a minute before the break but Robbie Blake hit the post and Tony Grant missed a good chance before the penalty by Popovic.
HALF TIME:
Fit again Marlon Beresford justified his recall with some fine saves to keep out Palace in the first half. With Tommy Black the biggest threat the home side dominated and only a sharp shot by Gareth Taylor gave Burnley hope of a goal until the Wales striker rose to head home the opener two minutes before the break.
Clarets boss Stan Ternent made four changes to the side that had beatej Grimsby 4-0 in the week.
With Glen Little injured he recalled Gareth Taylor, Mark McGregor and Nik Michopoulos made way for Drissa Diallo and Marlon Beresford while fit again Lee Briscoe replaced Alan Moore.
