COUNCIL house tenants living in Ramsbottom are to be given the opportunity to have their say next week on what kind of future they want to see for their homes.

Throughout 2002, a series of consultation events have taken place about the levels of investment that there should be in Local Authority homes.

A series of presentations for 2003 have been planned at various locations in the borough in a bid to reach the highest number of tenants to get as many different points of view as possible.

Bury Metro's Executive Member for Regeneration and Housing, Councillor Ray Watts, said: "As well as trying to encourage greater tenant participation in the consultation process, especially from among under-represented minority groups, we have also produced a leaflet 'You and The Bury Standard' which was delivered alongside the newsletter. This informs tenants what the Government Decent Home Standard is and is also aimed at helping us to shape the future standard for the area.

"The Bury Standard will identify the investment and service tenants wish to see in the years to come and determines what finance is needed to deliver this.

"What we are discussing and consulting about now is possibly the single most important issue that there has been around council homes. That is why we want and need as many tenants as possible to be involved with this process."

Meetings will be held across the borough during January, Ramsbottom's meeting will be held in the civic hall on Monday, January 20 from 4pm till 7pm.
