CHORLEY Lynx start their new campaign when they travel to Craven Park to take on Barrow in the first group game in rugby league's Arriva Trains Cup tomorrow (kick-off 2pm).

The competition was supposed to promote local derbies, but Lynx find themselves in the same group as Barrow, Workington, Whitehaven and Gateshead with their only derby game being against Leigh Centurians in the cross-over fixture.

Lynx coach Darren Abram said preparations have been hampered with the intended friendly fixtures against Rochdale being postponed twice, leaving him with the problem of what will be his best starting line-up on Sunday.

Like most coaches however, he will use these games to give all his squad the chance to impress as he looks towards the first league game on Good Friday.

Abram completed his pre-signings this week with ex-Rochdale duo Marlon Miller and Michael Coates joining the squad along with Mick Redfern and Dave Radley from amateurs Leigh East.

Lee Rowley and Martin Meadows, also from Leigh East, are expected to join the squad after they have completed their amateur commitments.

This week also saw Lynx tie up a five figure shirt sponsorship deal with Econoloft and the new shirts should be on show next Friday night when they take on Leigh Miners in the third round of the Challenge Cup (kick-off 8pm).

Barrow come into tomorrow's game with the benefit of a match behind them having defeated a very young St Helens outfit 18-16 at Craven Park last Sunday.

Lynx will select from: Bloor, Street, Ramsdale, Parry, Kilgannon, Jones, Gambles, Roden, Smith, Patel, Whittle, Hodson, Ingram Cross, McCully, Braddish, McConnell, Peters, Briggs, Garcia, Coates, Miller, Redfern, Radley.
